Road to the sea. Over Bosnia.

I live relatively close to the sea.

Up to five hours drive.
Usually I go over Bosnia and then Herzegovina,
but this time I decided to go to a little village Primosten, Croatia
and road took me trough Bosnia.

We leave always at five.

Cross the first mountain.
Usually it is very dark, cloudy and first sunrays appear.

Bosnia is a bikers paradise.

Especially this road over Drvar (BH) - Knin (CRO).
Winding roads and nature.

There were villages here.
Twenty something years ago.
You could have bought cheese, wine, honey.

Now there is nothing there.

Standing crosses tell you weather you are on croatian or serbian side.
Few houses left.

Two small cities that stand out - Kljuc and Drvar.

Tito's Drvar :).

Car that reminded of Texas chainsaw massacre :).
Stealing woods I guess.
Or cigarette smuggler.

If you plan to go here on bicycle rides, I suggest you contact local experienced guides.
Routs and views are magnificent but beware that you are out of reach, no cellphones and that there are minefields leftovers (clearly marked, but then again...)

Bosna is all mountains and hills.
In the former country they used to teach us that if you could have ironed it - it would be greater than SSSR (former Russia).

This used to be a house.
In a village...

Just a mile towards a border, small store where you can drink a coffee.
Nothing spectacular about it except this funny dog.
And that was the only place you could actually stop - apart from one petrol station.
So, if you did not stop at Kljuc, or you did not want to go into Drvar - this is the place for you to have coffee.

Knin, Croatia.
My Dad had a friend there.
This man returned to Knin recently.
Owns a restaurant.
Knin used to be famous for wine.
People would travel hundreds of kilometers by old train and horse or bull wagons to get wine in Knin.

Area around Knin.
You are approaching the coast.

If you go over the Biokovo mountain, that is the first road I have mentioned - it leads you over Herzegovina - the first view of the sea is magnificent.
You see islands Brac and Hvar.

But here, this is the first view.

Funny isn't it? It looks like a lake.

Olive trees and small vineyards.

Windmills on the surouning hills.
Well, this is Croatia.

But let us go back to Bosnia.

The sun is setting.
In an hour or two we will be home...
