Trebinje, Herzegovina. Photo story.

Vrbas river.
Bosnia.

Neretva river.
Herzegovina.

Road towards the Mostar city.

Somwhere near Gacko.
Gacko is famous for its lamb steak.

Waterfront of city of Trebinje.

Trebishnjica river.

The old city of Trebinje.

City main square.

Wall around the old city.

Town park and a church.

Strolling around the old city, looking for a restaurant.

Museum of Herzegovina.
Sadly, it was closed after 5 p.m.

Gate used in one of the movies.

The famous ice cream place.
All the ice cream you can eat for 1.5 EUR.

Walking of the half kilo of ice cream I ate...

Ended up in front of museum again.

There is a nice path down by the river.
Leads towards the Arslanagic bridge (bridge was built by Mehmed Pasha Sokolovic, in the memory of his son).

From here, there is a nice view of Little Gracanica church, on top of the Crkvina hill.

These huge wheels are used for watering the land.
They are still in use.

From the waterfront there is a nice view of the other church, on the opposite hill from Crkvina.
Decided to go there.
Did not realize it was THAT far...

Passed by the ruined stone houses.
People tend to leave Trebinje.
It is not easy living there.
Did you know it is only 30km away from the Adriatic coast?
People of Trebinje, when they leave this city for good, say that things they miss the most are 250 days of sun and that scent of the sea that is just behind the first hill...

Nice views again.
Very calm atmosphere as you pass by.

Finally, I am there.
The Tower they call it.

Food here is great.
And localy produced.
They are most famous for wine - there are a few quite famous brands.

Arslanagic bridge from the opposite side.

I wander how this was when these houses were inhabited.
Some of them are with beautiful arches,  seems that they really looked nice...

On these hills around Trebinje you can see ruins of the old Austro-Hungarian army settlements that were used as prisons.
Rocks from here were used in building controversal Andric city in Visegrad.
Politics here - you could write about it for months...
But I decide not to.

This is Crkvina hill.

Nice, isnt't it...
